• Cleanliness: Gloves are not strictly necessary, but it is important to keep the components clean during handling and installation.
• Component Handling: The SPD units can be somewhat intricate. Take extra care during disassembly and reassembly.
• Washers: Ensure that no washers are lost during the replacement process, as they are critical to proper function and assembly.
  
  

Reliability Note:

• Gas Discharge Tubes very rarely fail. Failures are more likely to occur at the Type-N connector - before the Tube itself - especially under surge conditions around 20kA.
• The contact area between the pin and socket of the Type-N connector is relatively small. Even slight discoloration or wear on the connector can be enough to cause damage.
• This limitation is inherent to the design of the Type-N interface and cannot be mitigated through Surge Protector or Gas Discharge Tube design changes.
